Keeping Your Eye on the (Base)Ball I was in Washington DC for a week last fall to conduct a training and when I finished my work I took the train up to Philadelphia for a few days R&R. It happened to be during the World Series and I noticed a man across the aisle who had a wireless laptop and was streaming the game. You know I couldn't resist. I kept looking over. He finally asked...'Would you like to watch?' As you might guess, I scooted right over. The first time I ever rode Amtrak on the east coast, there was nothing known as wireless or streaming. Heck, laptops were barely around. And although that sounds like ancient history, it wasn't. In this case, technology was convenient, fun and helped pass the time. And although technology can be all those things, we've learned it can also be not-convenient, not-fun and the 'eater-upper' of time. Your time. It's like anything else. If you consistently respond to the urgent you'll reap what you sew. Consistent interruptions, low or no focus on priority issues, a stressful reminder of a day lost. To get to what you want and need, you need to: -Identify your focus for the day -Remain consistent in the habits that get you there -Be deliberate in the choices you make If any one of these areas are missing or compromised, it's easy to make email, texts and tweets more important than what's really important. Its become easy to succumb to technology with a result of having it control you rather than the other way around. And that's no way to begin or end a day. ......................................................... |

Gadgets and Websites Convert PDF Files to Word. Saving docs as a PDF is a great idea, until you need to convert back to modify the original doc. But it can be done in 3 steps. Go to: www.pdftoword.com Meet me half-way. If you have a face-to-face meeting and want to figure out the geographic halfway point between, go to: www.meetways.com.
