Your Sales Productivity in this Economy! There's no two ways about it. Selling or supervising a sales team in this business environment can be challenging. Here's 2 studies that might provide food for thought: In the first study, I wrote a training program for a company that works with salespros to help them improve their skills and success rate. We interviewed individuals who were successful in a cross-section of industries, earning over $1 million/year for at least 3 years running. See if you can identify with any of these sales 'habits'. Question: Do you maintain an organized workspace? Question: Do you believe in systems and processes? Question: What is the first thing you do every day once you reach your office? Question: If you had to attirbute your sucess to one character trait you possess, what would it be? Which of these habits do you have? How are your habits impacting your sales? The second study involved analyzing how successful sales pros think and compairing it to individuals producing less sales. After giving the assessment to several hundred salespros within one company, a summary report was created. The top 10% producers answers were compared to the remaining 90%. The main difference? The top 10% remained focus on process...not just outcome. Many of us focus on the carrot at the end of the stick, rather thanw hat we need to do to get the carrot. Consistently successful sales people focus on what they need to do, step by step, day by day, day in and day out, in order to get their carrot. How often do you focus on the detail required to excel or even do your job? Do you go kicking and screaming into this kind of detail and complexity? How do you really feel about order, structure, detail, routine? Be honest. It could make a difference in the results you're gtting and make 'selling in this economy' less painful and a lot more rewarding. |

Book Nook - The review of a book that could help you improve your organizing and time management skills Hope is not a Strategy by Rick Page I think Mr. Page should win a prize just for the title of this book. As the subtitle says, it's 'The 6 key ways to winning a complex sale'. Although 'complex' may be defined differently, the book provides the structure for actually planning and coordinating sales team efforts. Hmmm.structure, planning, coordinating...where have I heard those words before? |
