The 'Secret' is out

Have you watched or read The Secret? It’s based on the Law of Attraction and interest is spreading like wildfire. The originator and teachers have already been on Oprah.

The website says 'This is 'The Secret' to everything - the secret to unlimited joy, health, money, relationships, love, youth: everything you have ever wanted.' The basic premise is if you change the way you think, everything else will follow. But it all starts with our thoughts.

It’s not a secret that our thoughts drive our feelings, actions and ultimate results. Yet many of us have never stopped to recognize this think-feel-act cycle. Lack of insight around this concept is what prevents us from achieving the outcomes we want...and sometimes need... in business and in life.

This lack of insight prevents us from keeping commitments-to ourselves--and others, breaking habits, living our dreams, even reaching beyond our dreams. Even dreams like becoming and remaining organized or overcoming procrastination.

We all have 6 dimensions of thought. The 6 Advisors program measures how we think and to what degree we think it. It's about whether you over-valueunder-value or balance your thoughts when it comes to:

  1. yourself
  2. others
  3. your ability to get things done
  4. the way you spend your time
  5. your openness to new or different ideas
  6. your ability be motivated and self-directed

Gaining awareness. Gaining personal insight on how you think is far more effective than 'being told'. And this type of self-discovery usually is followed by a commitment on your part to ‘make it so.’

Stop wishing and start exploring. Take action. It’s worth it.

Organizing Matters - Client stories of challenges, solutions and successes

The Challenge...

Joan was an administrative assistant with a full plate! As a result of her company's downsizing, she found herself supporting six people rather than two. Generally an organized individual, she was feeling overwhelmed and ineffective. She knew she couldn’t change her workload, but wasn’t sure what to do.

The Soution...

Joan was right—she can't change her workload, but she can change how she approaches it and how she communicates with her bosses.

Result? Become focused on priorities, adept at shifting priorities and ask for clarification.

What's NEW at Organize it?

Certified 6 Advisors™ coach. On  December 1, 2006 I became certified as a Coach for the 6 Advisors™ assessment and coaching program. Earlier in 2006 I was certified as a Facilitator for the leadership development aspect of the program.

In print. I was quoted in the January 24th issue of the Kansas City Star in an article on how to say 'no'...nicely.

On TV. On January 29th I appeared on KCTV Live in a segment on products for home offices.

Conference at Disney World. I conducted 2 workshops on Listening and Delegating for the Certified Contractors Network winter conference in Orlando. I haven't been to Disney in years...it was great fun! Conducting something similar at the spring conference in Boston but this time it's geared towards sales pros.

Workshop in Orlando. I conducted a day and a half workshop in Orlando for a division of Colgate Palmolive. We covered paper and information management, time management and 6 Advisors.

Council on Philanthropy. I started the new year with a presentation on January 10th entitled 'Organize Your Workspace, Organize Your Mind'.
